How to Transfer PDF to iPad?
iBooks is a great eBook and PDF reader. If you have many PDF files saved on your computer, you can import the PDF files to iBooks for your iPad. This iPad PDF tutorial shows you how to add PDF files saved on your computer to iBooks App on your iPad.
Steps to Transfer PDF files to iBooks for iPad
Step 1. Run iTunes on your computer. Click “File” >> select “Add to Library” or “Add Folder to Library” from the drop-down menu.
Step 2. Browse to the PDF file that you want to send to iBooks and click Open to add PDF files to iTunes.
You can choose to select to send multiple PDF files or entire folder to iTunes. iTunes will automatically detect the file types, for PDF files they will be added to the Books Library automatically.
Step 3. Open the Books in the left column from your iTunes Library. Your PDF files should be displayed as thumbnails there.
Step 4. If you like to add some info such as title, author, date and so on to the PDF file, right-click (or press Ctrl and click if you are on Mac) on the PDF file and select Get Info from the menu.
Now PDF files have been imported from your computer to iTunes. It’s time to transfer them to iBooks app on iPad now.
Step 5. Connect your iPad with your computer through the USB cable. Select your iPad under the “Devices” section in iTunes.
Step 6. Click on the “Books” tab near the top of the screen. Check the “Sync Books” box and choose the “All books” or “Selected books” option.
“All books” is for you to sync all books once, “Selected books” is to only sync specific books. Check the boxes of the PDF you would like to add to iBooks if you chose the “Selected books” option.
Step 7. Click “Sync” button at the bottom of the iTunes to add the PDF files to your iPad.
You are done. Your PDF files have been sent to your iPad. You can now open iBooks App on your iPad and read the PDF files. Once the iBooks started on your iPad, tap on the “PDF” tab at the top of the screen, then all the imported PDF files will be listed, tap to open any PDF files to read on your iPad.

I really like the idea of pulling a library full of PDFs. I am assuming that when sync’d through iCloud I could view them on my across my Apple devices. Very helpful.
how do you wirelessly sync pdf’s saved in ibooks on iPad back to macbook and iPhone? nothing has worked so far…i’ve read i need to convert pdf’s to epub files….but that is cumbersome and not efficient. this is driving me crazy…please help.
you can email each pdf to yourself individually if you open them in ibooks. Bit long winded but simple enough.
Thanks a lot .your detail explanation, step by step proved effective even for me. I am very weak in iTunes. Thanks
At step 6 I was not getting a books tab. So ended up transfering the pdf to my IPAD by right clicking the pdf then adding it to my ipad by selecting it from the playlist list.
I am using Itunes Version 11.02
